Womans-Ministry

Women’s ministry exists to inspire, equip, support, and disciple women of all ages to live as women of faith and provide women with opportunities to serve in God‘s kingdom.

We seek to accomplish this mission by offering opportunities for Bible study, prayer, fellowship, worship, and service within our church fellowship and community.

We aim to provide opportunities to develop deep friendships through prayer and support of one another as we walk through the changing seasons of our lives.

Using Titus two as our guide we seek to provide biblical discipleship and to glorify God through raising up Proverbs 31 women who walk in the Spirit and use their spiritual gifts to mentor women, who in turn will train up younger women and encourage other women.

We meet regularly throughout the year on the first and third Monday of the month in Bible study, special events, and fellowship as we set our minds and hearts to fulfill our God given mission to make Jesus known.

“Charm  can be deceitful and beauty doesn’t last, but a woman who fears and reverences God shall be greatly praised.” Proverbs 31:30 TLB

Barbara Bowers

Barbara was born and raised here in Wichita, though she has also lived in Texas, Tennessee, Virginia, Florida, and Hawaii due to her late husband’s service in the U.S. Navy.  She was brought up in a Christian home, but did not personally receive Christ until her teen years while a resident in a Christian home for wayward girls in south Texas.

While in Texas, she learned to play guitar and was privileged to be chosen as part of a vocal group that traveled the U.S. with the evangelist/pastor that headed up the girls’ home and several other residences for people in need of transformation and rehabilitation.  It was there in Texas that she met and married her husband who was working with young men at a boys’ home founded by the same evangelist.

Through the years she was blessed to be part of several different church families and influenced by listening to the teachings of a number of godly women.  Through these teachings she realized her calling to be involved in Women’s Ministry and has participated in various ways throughout the years.

She is now part of the group that shares leadership of our Women’s Ministry here at Calvary Chapel Fellowship, leading worship, and teaching.  Her desire is to see all our women come to know the Lord in a special, personal, and deep relationship that will have a profound and lasting effect on their lives and will make them influential in the lives of those they come in contact with.

“We are billboards of what we believe, and reflections of Who we trust.”

Susan Miller

Susan Miller grew up here in Kansas. She had a lot of religious influences in her life, but in her teen years, rebelled against all authority, including God. By the time she was 18 she was the mother of two and finally “came to the end of herself”. And just like
the prodigal son in the Bible, she needed to return to her Father. In the summer of 1978 she gave her life to the Lord.

In 1980 the Lord blessed her with a husband who encouraged her in her walk with the Lord. They continued to grow in their walks and ride the roller coaster ride of Christianity, always looking for a firm foundation. They found that foundation at Calvary Chapel where the Word of God is the central focus.

In her desire to grow with other sisters toward a full knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ she has become a part of the leadership team for the women’s ministry here at Calvary Chapel Fellowship. Being part of women’s study helps her to stay focused on the Word and keeping her eyes on Jesus.

Lil Cole

Lil was blessed to be born and raised in a loving family within a small farming community—one where she experienced the value of community and relationship.

Although God was important to her, it wasn’t until she moved from home to Wichita,KS and was exposed to the world outside that community that she finally understood the difference between religion and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. At the age of twenty-one, on January 21, 1979 she accepted Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior.

Lil is thankful for the Women’s Bible Study at Calvary Chapel that she began attending in the 1980s. Sitting under the teaching of Sue Duncan and other godly women, she contributes much of her spiritual growth to the nurturing atmosphere as they taught God’s Word and the truths from Proverbs 31 and Titus 2:3-5.

It is her desire to continue growing together with other women as they join in studying God’s Word, fellowship, and cultivating relationships.
