Knowing God

Jesus loves you. Do you love Jesus?

INTRODUCING YOU TO GOD

The Gospel is profoundly simple,
and can be understood by children & adults alike.

“This is [God’s] command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another.”
1 John 3:23

While a relationship with God (or salvation) begins with a personal relationship with Him, through the final blood sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, it is lived out through love relationship with others.

Koinonia is a transliterated form of the Greek word κοινωνία, which refers to concepts of fellowship, that which is in common, describes the experience of having something in common and sharing things in common with others. It describes a close association involving mutual interests and sharing or to have communion. In other words, Koinonia is connecting our hearts together as the body of Christ.

But, why should I trust God? What did He ever do for me?

We truly only believe someone if their actions agree with their words.

Jesus:

  • Came to earth as a baby, born to a virgin, Mary
  • Fulfilled his Father’s will perfectly
  • Taught all the people He came in contact with about His Father
  • Loved, served and performed miracles for others
  • Was persecuted, traumatized and died on a cross. For YOU. For YOU.

Why did He die?

We are all born with a desire to sin. If you are honest, you know that no one is sinless.

There’s a fixed eternal penalty for sin, which is spiritual death; spending eternity in Lake of Fire with the Devil and his angels. We all pay that price, unless we repent and accept Jesus as our Savior, and the perfect gift from God. God loves us so much that He has given us the opportunity to be acquitted from all charges of sin and enter into an everlasting relationship with Him.

So He paid the penalty by dying on the cross and shedding His blood. He then proved his power over death by His resurrection three days later. He then ascended into heaven, and how sits at the right hand of his Father, and intercedes on our behalf.

So now what?
The Gospel message is expressed as a command because we are called to pick up our cross and follow Jesus. Because Jesus was obedient unto death, God the Father has exalted Jesus Christ and given him a Name which is above all names. (Philippians 2:5-11)

The proper response to the Gospel message is to accept it. Simple, child-like belief in Christ saves us from the penalty of our sin.

What else do I need to do to get out from under this penalty?
Nothing else is required. God’s will for his Son was to become our Savior. God’s will for us is to believe in Him as Savior, and our Lord.

So, we have told you what Jesus DID.
Now, let’s examine His WORDS.

Again, we remind you that His words are trustworthy, because they are backed by His actions.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
Romans 3:23

“Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out.”
Acts 3:19

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16

“If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Romans 10:9

Would you like to pray to receive Jesus as your Savior now?

“Jesus I recognize I am a sinner. I recognize that I sin because I choose to. I believe that you died on the cross for my personal sin. I thank you, Jesus, that You died on the cross, paying the price for my sins, and then rose from the dead. I confess my sin, and ask for your forgiveness, knowing that if I confess my sins, You will not cast me away, and will be faithful to forgive me, and cleanse me from all unrighteousness. I surrender my ego. I turn from my sins. I will live in a way that pleases You.”

Baptism & Fellowship

As an outward signal to others that you have become a Christian, it’s important to be baptized by immersion. See Galatians 3:26-27.

Also, you need to have friends who share your beliefs, and who can encourage you. This is why it’s so important to find a good, Bible-believing church where you can continue in fellowship with other Christians. See Hebrews 10:24-25.

Read the Bible

The Bible is a love letter to you from God. The more you read it, the more you’ll fall in love with Him. See 1 Peter 2:2.

A good place to start is the book of John. The Gospel of John is the latest-written of the four biographies of Jesus that have been preserved in the New Testament.

The purpose of this gospel, as stated by John himself, is to show that Jesus of Nazareth was Christ, the Son of God, and that believers in him might have eternal life.

Talk to God.

Just like in earthly relationships, your spiritual relationship with God will suffer if you don’t communicate with Him.

God created you. He delights in you. He sings over you. He has your name tattooed to the palm of His hand. This is how close He feels to you. Respond throughout the day to His chords of love.

Bring all your thoughts, desires and feelings to Him. He knows you completely. You don’t have to hide anything from Him. (Philippians 4:6).

Share Your Faith

As an outward signal to others that you have become a Christian, it’s important to be baptized by immersion. See Galatians 3:26-27.

Also, you need to have friends who share your beliefs, and who can encourage you. This is why it’s so important to find a good, Bible-believing church where you can continue in fellowship with other Christians. See Hebrews 10:24-25.
